Stevie Nicks Signs On to Play Sarah McLachlan's Vancouver Benefit Concert

Warner Bros. RecordsStevie Nicks is among the big names Canadian singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan has lined up for a benefit concert she's arranging in September in Vancouver, Canada.  Former President Bill Clinton also will participate in the event, called Voices in the Park, which will raise money for the Sarah McLachlan School of Music.  The non-profit facility offers free music education to needy and at-risk youth, and funds brought in by the concert will go specifically to expand free after-school music programs.

Among the other acts on the bill for the show are Canadian stars Jann Arden and the band Hedley, as well as the Vancouver Men's Choir.  Students from the school will also join McLachlan for her performance.

Sarah joked to the Vancouver Sun that Clinton might bring his saxophone along and join her in a number, but she said of the artists on the bill, "I think it’s a pretty great lineup: Diverse, unusual, lots of different age groups.  I definitely wanted this to be able to appeal to every generation, and I think we’ve done a good job."

McLachlan told the paper that she'd love to "net $1 million" from the concert, adding, "I think it’s a reasonable goal. I might be setting the bar high, but I’d like to do that."
