Jake Owen still can't believe he's on the road with Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw's Brothers of the Sun tour this summer. He actually saw the two superstars perform together a decade ago back home in Florida. Jake sat on the lawn with his friends and his ex-girlfriend, whose mother wasn't a big fan of Jake. Since Jake liked to play guitar and sing, the girlfriend's mom said Jake was going to be the next Kenny Chesney.
Jake says, "She meant it very sarcastically. So, now, I'm out there touring with him. It kind of makes me smile sometimes in my own sick way."
The Brothers of the Sun tour plays Nashville's LP Field Saturday, and Jake has been exciting hearing DJs talking about it on the radio.
"They're like, 'Y'all make sure to call in for your tickets this week. We got Kenny, Tim and Jake at LP Field,'" Jake says. "It was like, they didn't include my last name in that? It just was kind of odd to hear that. Especially in the company of those two guys."
Jake will be performing his new single, "The One That Got Away," from his latest album, Barefoot Blue Jean Night, at Saturday's show.
