Scotty McCreery Committed to Full Time Job of Being a Country Star

Mercury/XIXScotty McCreery is headed to college this fall, but that doesn't mean he's giving up his full-time job as a country star.  He's currently gathering songs for the follow-up to his platinum debut album, Clear as Day.  The life of a recording and touring star is a great fit for Scotty too.

He tells Billboard, "I never wanted to sit behind a desk; that wasn't me.  I love entertaining.  If I wasn't on [Idol] I would've tried to head to Nashville and make it the traditional way."

In other Scotty news, he returned home to Garner, NC to film the video for his latest single, "Water Tower Town."  The clip features footage of Scotty's hometown fans showing support for their native son since his American Idol win last year.  It's now posted at Vevo.com.
