Keith Richards' Stage-Worn T-Shirt, Items from John Lennon and Elvis Draw Big Bids at Auction

KeithRichards.comA T-shirt Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards wore on stage, several items signed by John Lennon and a motorcycle outfit worn by Elvis Presley raked in big bucks this past weekend at a memorabilia auction in Beverly Hills, California.

Keith's T-shirt -- a sleeveless Hanes shirt with the word "Hell" written across the front and a large tear in the middle -- sold for $7,040.  The rocker wore the shirt on The Stones' Tattoo You tour in 1981, and he can be seen wearing it in the concert movie Let's Spend the Night Together

Several Lennon-related items also were scooped up at the auction -- an inscribed New Year’s card that brought in $4,687.50, as well as a Beatles-signed check and a handwritten joke immigration card, each of which sold for $6,400.

But the big rock 'n' roll winner was the King himself, Elvis.  His black leather motorcycle outfit drew a winning bid of $41,600.  Other Elvis merchandise did well too.  An star ruby and diamond ring once owned by Presley sold for $21,250, while a necklace bearing his initials, “E.P.,” went for $31,250.

The auction was organized by Julien's Auctions of Beverly Hills.
