Van Morrison will return with a new studio album, Born to Sing: No Plan B, this fall. The 10-song collection, which is due out on October 2, will be the acclaimed singer/songwriter's first album of original material since 2009's Keep It Simple.
Born to Sing will be released via Blue Note Records, the same label that issued Morrison's 2003 effort, What's Wrong with This Picture?
"With most record companies being so corporate I am happy to be working with Don Was and the team at Blue Note," says Van in a statement. "To have such a creative music person as the head of my recording label assures me that all the effort taken to write and record this new album will be rewarded with a music-based focus and marketing approach. I look forward to many recording projects with Don and Blue Note."
Born to Sing was produced by Morrison, and was recorded in his hometown of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Meanwhile, Van currently has no North American tour dates on his itinerary, although he has a variety of concerts in Europe scheduled through an October 29 show in Sligo, Ireland. Visit VanMorrison.com to check out all of his forthcoming dates.
