Each year, Elton John and his partner David Furnish host their annual White Tie & Tiara charity ball at their home in Windsor, England, and each year, they come up with a different, fun theme. This year's event -- the 14th annual -- was no different: Elton and his guests went back to the sixties.
The British paper The Express reports that Elton's bash had a Motown theme, and he evoked the Motor City by decorating the grounds of his estate with display cases full of rare Chopard diamonds embedded in towers of vintage car tires. Vintage cars were also scattered around, bedecked with flowers and plants. Guests ate in a marquee decorated to look like Detroit, and Smokey Robinson was flown in to provide the entertainment.
Adam Lambert, who was one of the guests, tweeted a photograph of the dessert: a series of cakes set on a chocolate replica of a Motown record. Other guests included Glee star Matthew Morrison, Dame Shirley Bassey, George Michael, Grace Jones, Star Trek and Mission Impossible actor Simon Pegg, actress Naomi Watts, and Elizabeth Hurley. Proceeds from the bash benefited the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
