Last year, Jon Bon Jovi launched the Soul Kitchen, a community restaurant in Red Bank, New Jersey, where people can either pay what they can, or donate their time to earn meals. But if the eatery plans on adding Italian food to its menu at any point, it now has the perfect ingredient: a line of pasta sauces created by Jon's father, John Bongiovi.
The sauces, according to the brand's website, are based on a family recipe that originated in Sicily and has been passed down for three generations. "This recipe, along with the process, has always been a close-kept secret of the Bongiovi family," declares the website. "In recent years while feeding everyone from our friends, neighbors and even celebrities, there was one constant we heard over and over: 'You need to bottle this sauce.'"
The sauces, which apparently don't give Italian cooking a bad name, are available in three flavors: Marinara, Garden-Style and Arrabiata, which is spicy. You can order them from the website, or buy them in New Jersey Shop Rite stores.
