Black Sabbath, Slash Among Winners at 2012 "Kerrang!" Awards
Facebook.com/BlackSabbathBlack Sabbath and ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash were among the honorees at the 2012 Kerrang! Awards, which were held Thursday night in London. Sabbath were recognized with the U.K. hard-rock magazine's prestigious Inspiration Award. Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi were on hand to accept the trophy.
After the receiving the award, Butler said of the honor, "It's great. After all these years, Kerrang!'s still there, we're still there. So we've sort of grown up together."
Slash, meanwhile, received the Icon Award. In an interview during the festivities, the guitar legend said, "It's a cool acknowledgement, and especially cool coming from Kerrang!, because back in the day Kerrang! was the first publication in the U.K. that put us on the cover of their magazine."
Both Sabbath and Slash will be playing Saturday at the Download festival in Donington Park, England.
