Celine Dion's New English Language CD to Feature Her Versions of Songs from Vegas Show
Gerard Schachmes/Facebook.com/CaesarsColosseumCeline Dion has been saying for months that she's working on two albums, an English-language one and a French one. Now, word comes that the English album won't be made up of all-new material; instead, it'll feature studio versions of some of the songs that Celine performs live in her current Las Vegas show.
In a statement, Celine says, "We do a lot of songs in the show that I've never recorded before and people are always asking for these when they visit our boutique, so it's great that we'll finally have these recorded." Among the songs that Celine has performed in the show but has never cut are Journey's "Open Arms," Janis Ian's "Seventeen," a medley of James Bond themes, Michael Jackson's "Ben" and "Man in the Mirror" and Billy Joel's "Lullaby (Goodnight My Angel)."
The album will include a few new tunes. Celine adds, "I've...received some amazing new songs that I'm very excited about and eventually we hope to put one or two of these into the show."
The French CD will feature all-new material. Both discs are expected to be released later this year. Celine's most recent English-language disc of all-new material was 2007's Taking Chances.
