For Jason Mraz, Tour Is a Four Letter Word. That's the name of his massive world tour, which he's kicking off Friday night in South Korea. Why there? According to The Korea Herald, Jason's one of the best-selling foreign artists in that country. In fact, tickets to his show sold out in less than 15 minutes.
After performing in Korea, Jason will make his way through Asia, hitting Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, China and Taiwan. From there, he'll return to the U.S. for a show in Hawaii on July 1, and then he'll take a month off before starting the North American leg of the tour, with opening act Christina Perri, August 9 in New Orleans.
Since fans in North America have to wait 'til August to check out the tour, which comes in support of his new album Love Is a Four Letter Word, Jason has given ABC News Radio a little preview of what to expect. "I'm definitely gonna play the entire album," he says. "Maybe not the entire album every night, but it's available to us, at our fingertips, [if we want to play it]."
He also promises to throw in "some of our favorites from the last few albums," and adds, "I'm trying to pay attention to songs that I left off of the last couple of tours, and also revive some ancient material which I think my new band and I can really jam on."
As for production values, Jason says, "We're gonna add some more video elements to the tour which is something we haven't been able to do in the past...with a much bigger audience we wanna make sure the technology brings people in so it still feels intimate." In addition to that, Jason says, fans will see him performing with an all-new band. "People who've followed my tours for years are gonna see all new players on stage and, hopefully, enjoy the music," he adds.
After the North American leg of the Tour Is a Four Letter Word trek wraps up in October, Jason will continue to Europe. The whole tour will finally wrap up in December 1 in London, England.
