Sammy Hagar, David Coverdale to Be Honored by "Vegas Rocks!" Magazine in August

Jon HillThey've fronted several of the biggest bands of the last several decades, and now Sammy Hagar and David Coverdale both will be honored for their contributions to rock at the Vegas Rocks! Magazine Awards 2012 this summer.  The big bash will take place August 26 at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Hagar, the current Chickenfoot frontman whose resume also includes Van Halen and Montrose, will be presented with the Voice of Rock award.  In addition, the Red Rocker will deliver a special tribute performance for late Montrose guitarist Ronnie Montrose, as well as leading a star-studded jam planned to close the evening.

Whitesnake/ex-Deep Purple singer Coverdale, meanwhile, will receive the Lifetime Achievement in Rock 'n' Roll trophy at the event.  A variety of as-yet-unannounced special guests also will appear at the show.
