Daughtry's Benefit Version of "Rescue Me" Now on iTunes

RCA RecordsIt was announced last month, but now a new acoustic version of Daughtry's song "Rescue Me" has finally hit iTunes.  Proceeds from the tune will benefit the WE CAN BE HEROES campaign to end hunger in the Horn of Africa.

Daughtry is recording and releasing the song in collaboration with DC Entertainment, the folks who bring you Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and more.  The WE CAN BE HEROES campaign uses those iconic characters to raise awareness and funds for humanitarian aid organizations in Africa.  Since Chris Daughtry is a tremendous Batman fan, the pairing made sense.

In a statement, Chris says, "You don’t need to be a super hero to help make a difference and be part of the greater good. The people in the Horn of Africa need us and every little bit helps, it’s as easy as downloading a song. If you’ve ever wanted to be super hero -- now’s your chance.”

Since the project was announced, Chris and the band have been performing "Rescue Me" each night of their Break the Spell tour.  Chris also is serving as an ambassador for the campaign.
