Rihanna Returns to Barbados for Gran Gran Dolly's Funeral

RihannaNow.comRihanna returned to her native Barbados this week to be at the funeral of her grandmother Clara Braithwaite, a.k.a. Gran Gran Dolly, who passed away earlier this month after a battle with cancer, according to the Daily Mail.  The usually edgy Rih arrived to the service on Tuesday wearing a modest black dress and dark sunglasses, with her hair pulled into an updo.

In the hours ahead of the funeral, Rihanna tweeted a picture of herself, bleary-eyed and holding a bottle, writing, "I had to!!! Sorry granny."  In an Instagram post, Rihanna also penned a note to her beloved grandmother, writing, "#grangrandolly you are going to have the best party today. #allblackerrthang! and I'm gon' try to hold it all in, try to hold back my tears."

Rihanna let fans in on her close relationship with her grandmother, sharing photos of their time together over the past few weeks.  When news came that Rih's Gran Gran had passed, fans and friends sent their love to the singer.  Rihanna's ex Chris Brown also remembered Dolly on Twitter, writing, "Praying for family and the lost loved one. She was like my grandmother. Love you GRAN GRAN! RIP."
