Jake Owen Working Hard on New Music as "The One That Got Away" Climbs the Chart

RCA NashvilleJake Owen's latest single, "The One That Got Away," could become the third #1 hit from his album, Barefoot Blue Jean Night. Despite his latest run of hits, Jake is still working on new music all the time these days.

"When I'm home, I try to work as much as possible, because as my dad always said you make hay when the sun's shining," Jake explains.  "Right now, the sun's shining on a lot of things I'm doing."

One of those projects is a summer-inspired EP of songs Jake plans to release in September.  He's already performed a few of these songs in his live shows.

Says Jake, "I cut some cool, good time songs.  Fun, summer songs that I thought would be fun to play on my boat most importantly, and then also on anybody else's that wants to throw it on their lake mix."

Jake's fans are already anticipating that EP's release, and he's glad to give them something new before his next studio album comes out.

"In today's instantaneous, digital world, I don't see why you can't feed people with what they want," Jake says.

Fans may hear Jake perform a few of these new songs in his opening spot on Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney's Brothers of the Sun tour, playing two shows California this weekend.
