Neil Diamond Releasing 40th Anniversary Edition of Classic Live Album "Hot August Night"

Universal Music EnterprisesA deluxe edition of Neil Diamond's classic 1972 live album Hot August Night will be released on July 31 as a two-CD set to commemorate its 40th anniversary. 

Hot August Night was recorded on August 24, 1972, at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, part of a 10-show run Diamond played at the venue that month.  The album, which was released in December of that year, reached #5 on the Billboard 200 chart and has sold more than two million copies in the U.S.  It features live versions of hits like "Sweet Caroline," "Cracklin' Rosie," "Song Sung Blue" and "Play Me."

The remastered recording will offer three previously unreleased songs, as well as stage banter and introductions not included on the original double LP.  The newly-added tunes are versions of Neil's 1968  song "A Modern Day Version of Love;" his 1972 tune "Gitchy Goomy;" and a cover of Randy Newman's "I Think It's Going to Rain Today."

As previously reported, Neil has scheduled a new series of concerts at the Greek Theatre in celebration of the album's anniversary.  The dates are August 11, 16, 18, 23 and 25.
