What's the Ultimate Stevie Nicks Song? There Isn't One, She Says

RecordsNot long ago, Stevie Nicks wrapped up her summer solo tour, and now she's out on the road with Rod Stewart for a second installment of their Heart & Soul trek, which proved to be a big success last year.  Nicks' set lasts for different lengths, depending on whether she's touring solo or with someone, but she always performs her biggest hits either way.  Which hit is her favorite?  She says she just can't choose.

Asked to name what she considers to be the quintessential Stevie Nicks song, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tells ABC News Radio, "I don't think there is one.  I think that [it's] depending on where I am in my life, y'know?"

The singer adds, "'Landslide,' at one point, was where I was in my life and that was the quintessential song.  'Dreams' was there at one point when Lindsey [Buckingham] and I were really breaking up, and that was a quintessential moment."

It isn't just those classic Fleetwood Mac tunes that most exemplify who Stevie is as an artist.  Solo songs like "Edge of Seventeen" and "Stand Back" are also tunes that stand out as milestones for certain points in her life -- for example, "Edge of Seventeen" was her reaction to the death of John Lennon.  Nicks also points to the material on her latest album, In Your Dreams, as summing up what's going on with her artistically at any given moment.

"'Moonlight,' was the song that inspired this whole record, and that was inspired by New Moon and the Twilight story of Bella and Edward, and me and Lindsey. So it's like the songs are as you go, you know?" she maintains.  "There isn't any quintessential one."

Nicks and Stewart wrap up their joint tour August 9 in Houston.
