Dolly Parton has released a statement on the passing of Kitty Wells calling her "the first and only Queen of Country Music, no matter what they call the rest of us."
Dolly goes on to say, "She was a great inspiration to me as well as every other female singer in the country music business. In addition to being a wonderful asset to country music, she was a wonderful woman. We will always remember her fondly."
Dolly actually recorded Kitty's signature song "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels" with Kitty along with Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette. It was the first track on Dolly, Loretta and Tammy's Honky Tonk Angels album released in 1993.
Kitty Wells died Monday in Nashville at age 92 from complications following a stroke.
