Emotional Adele Turned Down Amy Winehouse Tribute Performance, Says George Michael

Columbia RecordsAmy Winehouse's death last year took a toll on Adele, judging by comments made by George Michael to a London radio station this week.

George said he asked Adele to join him in a duet of Amy’s song "Love Is a Losing Game" for an Elizabeth Taylor tribute fundraiser in London held last November.  He continued, "She was basically telling me she couldn't.  She tried to put one of [Winehouse's] songs in her own set and she couldn't even get through it."

Adele and Amy are both alumni of the BRIT School, a performing arts academy in London.

George said that while Adele has temporarily put her music career on hold due to her pregnancy, he'd still love to collaborate with her one day.
