Madonna Is 2012's Music MVP So Far, According to "Billboard" Poll 

Madonna.comThe votes have been counted and it's official: the Queen of Pop is the Musical MVP of 2012, so far.

According to Billboard's Mid-Year Music Awards Poll, Madonna was named "First Half MVP" with 30 percent of the vote, edging out One Direction for the title: they received 27 percent.  

Madge also swept many other categories in the poll, including Best TV Performance for her Super Bowl halftime show, Most Memorable Feud, for her perceived spat with Lady Gaga, and Best Festival Performance for her appearance at the Ultra Music Festival in March.  While there, she caused controversy for uttering what many considered to be a veiled reference to the drug Ecstasy.

Despite missing out on the top prize, One Direction was named Best Newcomer, while fun.'s "We Are Young" was named Favorite Hot 100 #1 Song.  Adam Lambert's Trespassing was named Favorite #1 Album, and Rihanna's "Where Have You Been" was Best Music Video.

Running down the other categories, Beyonce won for Best Style, The Voice triumphed over American Idol for Best Reality Show and Justin Bieber was named Most Overrated Artist.  The most anticipated event of the second half of 2012?  Britney Spears' debut as a judge this fall on The X Factor.

Finally, the poll revealed that the Most Shocking Moment of 2012 so far was Whitney Houston's death, which garnered a whopping 61 percent of the vote.
