Trace Adkins Gets Back to Blue Collar Roots Doing Charity Work for the Homeless

Show Dog/UniversalTrace Adkins worked blue-collar jobs before becoming a country star in the '90s, so he was right at home painting doing carpentry jobs Tuesday at the Urban Ministry Center in Charlotte, NC. The homeless outreach program won a $50,000 grant in the Maxwell House "Drops of Good" campaign in support of charities across the country.

In addition to helping out a good cause, Trace also enjoyed working with his hands again. He tells the Charlotte Observer, "I've missed that satisfaction of being able to look back on what I've done and have tangible proof that I put in a good day's work. I still need that evidence that I'm making a difference."

Trace also tweeted a picture from the work site Wednesday.
