Drummer Lars Ulrich Says Metallica's 3D Concert Film Is a "Split Narrative"

Tim Mosenfelder/WireImageThe members of Metallica have been keeping quiet about the band’s upcoming 3D concert movie, set to be released in 2013. Now, drummer Lars Ulrich has revealed that in addition to showing fans some killer onstage performances, the film will feature some of the backstage action that goes on during a Metallica concert.

“[The film] is a narrative, and the rest of the stuff that goes on outside of the concert is not going to feature members of Metallica...in any way, shape or form,” Ulrich told reporters on a conference call, according to Billboard.  “It's a split narrative that kind of runs parallel to the concert."

Ulrich added that the band is stockpiling ideas for their next studio album and will begin work on it after they finish shooting for the 3D film. "Every time [frontman] James Hetfield picks up a guitar there's some brilliant riff that comes out of him, and I try to make sure that they're all recorded…and try to put some drums behind them,” explains the drummer.  “When we're done with the movie...we're going to basically just concentrate on new music and trying to get another Metallica record will be the priority.”
