Zac Brown Band's third studio album, Uncaged, was partially inspired by the band's shows in the U.K. last year including a gig opening for rock band Kings of Leonin London's Hyde Park. More than 70,000 fans were in attendance for that gig.
"I was like, 'Oh, OK,'" front man Zac Brown says of playing for those big crowds overseas. "In this album, there's definitely a tinge of the inspiration that I caught while I was over there doing that."
While Zac is a big fan of rock music, he sometimes can't understand the lyrics in rock songs.
He explains, "The great stories live around country and folk music, and I think the challenge is taking that same lyric and story that's in that song and wrapping it up in something that's going to move all those people the same way that those rock songs do."
The challenge for Zac Brown Band lies in making their music interesting for everyone from the casual music fan to their in-the-know musician friends. That's why they include different time signatures and instrumentation in their music but still make the lyrics and melodies direct enough to connect with anybody.
Zac says, "It's still accessible on whatever level you want."
Zac Brown Band takes their music on the road again with an August 1 show in Missouri.
