Lady Gaga Offers Fans a Chance to Direct Her Video
ChinaFotoPress/ChinaFotoPress via Getty ImagesContinuing her tradition of getting her fans involved in all aspects of her career, Lady Gaga has now announced a chance for one of them to direct a video for a song on her upcoming album.
In a video posted on her official YouTube channel, Gaga and her makeup artist, Tara Savelo, announced the "Little Monsters Film Project." What is it? Gaga explains, "We want you to show us your talents. We want you to send us a video, a film that shows us how you would like to shoot me or an inspiration for how you would like to shoot me, [which] you have shot yourself."
Explaining that "This is not an audition, this is a free-for-all," Gaga goes on to say that of all the video entries, she'll choose her favorite, and the person who created it will "film a video for [my] new album." She explains, "The director that is chosen will get to film one of my brand new songs for my new album...I'm gonna end up making a film for each song -- some longer than others, I'm not really sure yet -- but I'm gonna do a film for each song."
Gaga further teased that the resulting video will "get premiered on something new that I will be telling you about."
The star is also using the contest to promote her new social networking site, LittleMonsters.com. Noting that she wants videos that are "unscripted" and "quick and raw," she says, "That's essentially what LittleMonsters.com is: how much can we get away with."
As for when we can expect Gaga's new album, she plans to announce the title in September but there's no release date as of yet.
