Patty Griffin Confirms that She "Did Not Get Married" to Robert Plant

Photo: Erika GoldringWhen Robert Plant remarked during a recent U.K. interview that he'd "eloped to Texas," media outlets jumped on the quote assuming the Led Zeppelin singer had confirmed that he'd married his Band of Joy collaborator Patty Griffin.  However, a rep for Plant soon informed The Hollywood Reporter that the rumors were untrue.  Now, Griffin herself has seconded that emotion.

"I can tell you that we didn't!" she tells Rolling Stone. "[Robert is] a great embellisher.  But no, we did not get married."

Word has it Plant and Griffin do share a home in Austin, Texas, and they have been working together in his new project, The Sensational Shape Shifters.  The group is scheduled to make its U.S. debut August 11 at the Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

As for whether The Band of Joy will be returning to action, Griffin says, "That's all up in the air at the moment -- you've got to talk to Robert's camp about that."

Griffin, a successful singer/songwriter in her own right, is planning to focus on performing solo again in the fall, and has scheduled a series of shows without Plant in October.
