Phillip Phillips to Perform at MLB All-Star Game Next Week

Michael Becker/FoxAmerican Idol champ Phillip Phillips is making up for being sidelined by surgery for the past month-and-a-half.  The Georgia singer performed on PBS' A Capitol Fourth on Wednesday, and next Tuesday, he'll perform at the MLB All-Star Game.

Phillip will take the field at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri to perform his single "Home," backed by the American Idols Live touring band,  prior to the start of the game.  You'll be able to watch it at 7:30 p.m. on Fox.  Phillip's performance comes as part of a tribute to the tornado victims in nearby Joplin, Missouri and Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Phillip, nicknamed P2 by fans, should feel right at home at the All-Star Game.  American Idol season five alumna Kellie Pickler will perform during the game's seventh-inning stretch.  And if he gets there a day early, P2 can watch former American Idol champ and Missouri native David Cook sing the national anthem before the State Farm Home Run Derby.
