Katy Perry Says a Judging Job on a TV Show is "Not Right for Me Right Now"
Kevin Mazur/WireImage via ABCKaty Perry's name is one that has come up when there was talk of changing the judging panels on both American Idol and The X Factor. While Katy says she has nothing against those shows, being a reality show judge isn't a career path she'd consider right now, because it takes too much time.
Katy tells The Hollywood Reporter, "People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved and I think that it's not right for me right now. I have ideas for two or three big, creative things and I want to be able to fulfill those ideas. And it's a real commitment to be on one of those shows."
Even so, Katy says she's "not opposed" to the idea of singing competitions, adding, "I think some of those shows are better than others. I like to give constructive criticism that hopefully people can apply and find valuable." But she does have some harsh words for, shall we say, the quality of judges those shows sometimes hire.
"I do find it completely hilarious when they hire people that are not current in music and haven't been for a decade or over," she tells the Hollywood Reporter. "Or when they’re not even in music. How are you going to give a perspective when you haven't even lived it?"
