George Jones has announced plans for a final run of shows, called The Grand Tour, visiting 60 cities in 2013. The trek takes its name from the title of one of George's classic hits. He's expected to perform that and other legendary songs like "He Stopped Loving Her Today" and "White Lightning" on the trek.
George has been touring for more than fifty years, and he says it's now time to spend more time with his wife Nancy and their family.
He says, "It is tough to stop doing what I love, but the time has come."
Dates for The Grand Tour will be announced at a later date.
George battled an upper respiratory infection earlier this year, but he's now back on the road with a full tour schedule this year. Check out GeorgeJones.com for current tour dates.
George also plans to record a new album soon, and Dolly Parton is among those contributing songs for the project. A release date hasn't been announced for that album yet.
