Revamped Video, Audio of The Doors' Famed July 1968 Hollywood Bowl Concert Arriving This Fall

Eagle Rock EntertainmentA restored and expanded version of The Doors' Live at the Hollywood Bowl video, capturing a classic concert by the band from July 5, 1968, will be released in a number of formats this fall.  The flick, retitled Live at the Bowl '68, will be available as a DVD, Blu-ray and digital video on October 23, while a companion CD, two-LP vinyl set and audio download also will be issued that day.

The Live at the Bowl '68 DVD, Blu-ray and video download offer restored, high-definition visuals and a soundtrack remastered in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound.  The film also features three songs from the show -- "Hello, I Love You," "The WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat)" and "Spanish Caravan" -- that were not included on the original release because of technical issues.  In addition, the video boasts more than an hour of extra footage, including brief documentaries focusing on the concert, a short film about the restoration of the flick and archival TV appearances by the band.

Speaking about the sound quality of the upgraded concert document, Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek says, "You can hear it as if you were at the Hollywood Bowl, on stage with us."
