Details Revealed About Grateful Dead's Two-CD "Spring 1990" Live Compilation
Rhino/Dead.netDetails have been announced for the two-CD set featuring highlights from The Grateful Dead's upcoming limited-edition 18-disc Spring 1990 box set. Spring 1990: So Glad You Made It, which will be released on September 18, offers 20 performances selected by Dead archivist David Lemieux from five of the six concerts documented in the box set.
The track list of So Glad You Made It reflects the diverse aspects of the shows the Dead played during its spring 1990 trek, which took place mid March to early April of that year. Lemieux picked renditions of the band's classic tunes, newer material, covers, extended jams and rarely played tunes. Among the songs include are "Playing in the Band," "Morning Dew," "Not Fade Away" and a version of The Rolling Stones' "The Last Time." The collection also features a booklet with liner notes penned by Lemieux discussing the significant nature of the trek, which coincided with the Dead's 25th anniversary.
The Dead's spring 1990 tour marked what is considered by many aficionados to be a particularly energetic and inspired period for the group. The band's lineup at the time featured included Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Brent Mydland.
The Spring 1990: So Glad You Made It double-disc set is priced at $19.98 and will sold at Dead.net, as well as at traditional retailers. A digital version also will be available, for $13.99. The Spring 1990 box, meanwhile, will be released on September 1 and is being sold for $199.98.
