Doors, Zombies, Yes Members Featured on New Supertramp Tribute Album
Cleopatra RecordsAn impressive lineup of classic-rock artists, including members of The Doors, The Zombies and Yes, appears on a new album paying homage to Supertramp. Songs of the Century: An All-Star Tribute to Supertramp arrives in stores on August 14, and features covers of many of the band's best-loved songs, including "Breakfast in America," "Take the Long Way Home," "The Logical Song" and "Give a Little Bit."
Among the well-known musicians contributing to the collection are The Doors' Robby Krieger, The Zombies' Rod Argent, Starship's Mickey Thomas, ex-Rainbow/Deep Purple singer Joe Lynn Turner, Toto's Steve Porcaro and several Yes members and alumni, including Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman, Tony Kaye, Geoff Downes, Peter Banks and Billy Sherwood.
Sherwood, who produced the album, says, "Supertramp is a great band. They've written so many hits that you can't even count them all."
In addition to 11 renditions of Supertramp tunes, Songs of the Century also offers a new original track by Squire and Kaye titled "Let the World Revolve."
Meanwhile, the version of "Give a Little Bit," featuring Banks and Mr. Mister frontman Richard Page, currently is streaming online here.
