New Lynyrd Skynyrd CD/DVD Set Available Exclusively at Walmart

Universal Music EnterprisesA new three-disc Lynyrd Skynyrd compilation titled Southern Surroundings goes on sale Tuesday exclusively at Walmart stores and Walmart.com.  The collection includes a greatest hits CD featuring remastered versions of many of the Southern rock legends' most enduring tunes.  There's a DVD offering footage from a 1975 performance the band gave on the BBC television show The Old Grey Whistle Test. And there's a DVD Audio disc boasting high-fidelity, surround-sound editions of some of the same songs featured on the CD.

Among the 14 songs appearing on the Southern Surroundings CD are classics such as "Sweet Home Alabama," "Gimme Three Steps," "What's Your Name" and "Free Bird."  The album also offers a rare acoustic take on "All I Can Do Is Write About It."  The DVD, meanwhile, captures Skynyrd playing seven tunes, including "Sweet Home Alabama," "Free Bird" and a cover of J.J. Cale's "I Got the Same Old Blues."  Lastly, the DVD Audio disc features 10 tracks remixed by Grammy Award-winning producer and engineer Elliot Scheiner.

Southern Surroundings arrives exactly two weeks before Skynyrd will release its latest studio effort, Last of a Dyin' Breed.
