Colt Ford's Star-Studded New Album, "Declaration of Independence," in Stores Now

Average Joe'sColt Ford may be best known to some country fans as the co-writer of Jason Aldean's monster hit "Dirt Road Anthem," but Colt is a bona fide recording star in his own right.  His new album, Declaration of Independence, is out this week, and Jason is one of the many stars collaborating with Colt on the project.  Darius Rucker, Kix Brooks, Montgomery Gentry and even Wanya Morris from Boyz II Men are also featured on the project.

Getting all of those stars together to record on Colt's album isn't easy though.

"When you're doing a record like I do where I like to work with a lot of my friends, well, all my friends are pretty popular guys.  So, they're all out there working too," Colt tells ABC News Radio.  "So, it's difficult when you go, "Oh, by the way, I know you only have one day home.  Could you take that one day and come do a song with me?'"

Colt is humbled that artists of that caliber take time out to contribute to his albums.  His latest single, "Back," features guest vocals from Colt's good friend Jake Owen.  The two have actually known each other for a while now.

Colt says, "Jake and I, we've been friends for quite a few years.  One of the first people I met early on in town.  We just kind of became buddies, and we're friends outside of music."

Colt had been trying to find a song that would work for him and Jake, and "Back" turned out to be the perfect choice.
