Claudio Sanchez Says Coheed and Cambria in “Initial Stages” of Making "Armory Wars" Movie

Ryan RussellCoheed and Cambria recently signed a deal with Mark Wahlberg's Leverage Productions to develop the band’s ongoing sci-fi tale, Armory Wars, into a live-action feature film. While the band is gearing up to begin production on the project, frontman Claudio Sanchez says he has a few ideas about who should be working on the upcoming film.

“What we've been trying to do is find actors and directors that are interested in the material, who are maybe fans of the material, to see if there's any interest in getting involved,” the singer tells Billboard.com. “So we're just really starting from the ground and working our way up. We're still in the initial stages."

The Amory Wars series tells the story of a superhuman dictator and a family that could hold the key to liberating the world from his rule. The latest chapter of the saga, The Afterman, is a double album that will be released in two parts. The first installment, titled The Afterman: Ascension, will be available on October 9, while the second album, The Afterman: Descension, is slated for release in February 2013.
