Kelly Clarkson has lived in Nashville part-time for the past six years or so, but now she's looking to make the move permanent. One reason why? Her boyfriend -- who she describes as "someone I’m pretty in love with" -- is based in that city.
Speaking to Nashville's The Tennessean, Kelly says she currently lives in a condo in Music City, but is selling her Texas ranch and is about to buy a house right outside Nashville. In addition to being near to her boyfriend, Nashville-based artist manager Brandon Blackstock, Kelly says she likes the city because she feels more comfortable there -- more so than in L.A. or New York.
"It’s like Texas, but I can get work done, as well,” she tells the paper. “Everybody’s kind of the same speed as Texans, and everybody’s really nice and welcoming.” She adds, “And, there’s a Target close by!”
Kelly says she just seems to get along better with the country stars who hang out in Nashville, like her Voice buddy, Blake Shelton. "I do love pop music, but I think I have more of a Southern mentality. Even just emotionally, I’m more that girl," she explains.
Kelly, who just got nominated for a prestigious Country Music Association Award, says she may, in the future, record a few things just for the country music market, but don't worry: she won't abandon the genre that made her a star.
“I have a great career. I never want to compromise my career just to get more fans,” she tells the paper. “I think that’s cheesy, and I think it’s transparent, as well. As long as it’s a natural thing, and it’s something that I love, I’m totally cool with doing it.”
