Luke Bryan and The Band Perry's Kimberly Perry Co-Host "CMA Music Festival" Special Tonight on ABC

Hunter Kelly/ABC News RadioLuke Bryan and The Band Perry's Kimberly Perry co-host the CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock special Monday night at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.  Before they pulled off their hosting duties, Luke and Kimberly had some preparation to do.

A big challenge was interviewing some of country music's biggest stars like Brad Paisley and Faith Hill for the show.  Kimberly enlisted her brothers Reid and Neil Perry to help train her on how to conduct a proper interview.

She says, "I actually practiced for my interviews, because I had never done an interview before, and Reid and Neil and I, they played Brad 1 and Brad 2 in the bus before I went out, and did that and kind of threw me some curveballs."

Luke adds, "Interviewing Faith was a big deal for me.  She's just such a massive figure to me."

Now that Luke is one of country's biggest stars, he felt better prepared to host one of country music's biggest shows.

"Any years prior to this, I may have been a little more probably freaked out over maintaining the hosting thing," Luke explains. "I'm glad it's happened this year 'cause I'm just a lot more comfortable."

It wasn't all work and no play for Luke and Kimberly while working on the CMA Music Festival special.

Says Kimberly, "This is a really energetic show too, and I feel like there is some irreverence about the co-hosting duties.  You guys should see the outtakes.  They're hilarious."

Of course, the CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock is all about the performances.  Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Blake Shelton, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Zac Brown Band, Dierks Bentley, Jake Owen and Miranda Lambert are all singing on the show.  Alan Jackson, Little Big Town, Hunter Hayes, Eric Church, Brantley Gilbert, Martina McBride, Kix Brooks and Scotty McCreery round out the star-studded bill.
