Christina Perri and Cee Lo Green are two artists who've announced holiday albums for release this fall, and now Colbie Caillat has thrown her Santa hat in the ring. Her holiday album, Christmas in the Sand, is due October 23.
According to Billboard, the album features five original songs and 10 holiday standards, as well as two special guests: country star Brad Paisley plays on a version of "Merry Christmas Baby," while Gavin DeGraw, Colbie's summer tour mate, pops up on what she says is a "hilarious" version of "Baby It's Cold Outside." Colbie's dad, Grammy-winning producer Ken Caillat, oversaw the project.
The cover of the disc shows Colbie on a beach in a retro bathing suit, and she says that's a nod to the fact that as a California girl, she didn't grow up with the whole "White Christmas" thing. "I was like, 'Not everyone lives in the snow or cold places for Christmas, so why don't we write some songs for them to be able to relate to what their Christmas is like?'" Colbie tells Billboard.
According to Billboard, Colbie plans to perform a series of "stripped down" holiday concerts in November and December to promote the disc. She's also starting to work on her fourth album.
