Prince Announces Janelle Monae Will Join Him for a "Welcome 2 Chicago" Show
Facebook.com/CoverGirlPrince has tapped Janelle Monae to be the supporting act during his "Welcome 2 Chicago" show, taking place September 26 in the Windy City. The United Center in Chicago will host Prince for three shows, with the first taking place on Monday.
All three concerts will support the grassroots organization Rebuild the Dream, which helps everyday people come together to build stronger communities and to help fix the economy from the ground up.
"We couldn’t be more excited about partnering with a legend like Prince," Rebuild the Dream co-founder and president Van Jones, says in a statement. "There are few artists who have Prince’s unwavering commitment to a vision of a sustainable, fair economic future."
Socially conscious businesses, tech start-ups and entrepreneurs are among the innovators who'll be on site at the United Center during Prince's three-day run in Chicago. They'll be talking to concert-goers, and sharing tools and resources with people who want to know about how they can improve their economic situations.
