Taylor Swift made her third appearance as a performer on the MTV Video Music Awards Thursday night, and this time, she got the honor of closing the show.
Taylor performed her smash "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." She started out by singing the song in a mock recording studio, and then she was joined by a group of dancers, including some in animal costumes, just like the song's video. She and the dancers strutted defiantly, putting on black sunglasses at the same time and then collectively whipping them off again. At the end, she literally fell into the arms of the crowd. Cameras then cut to a shot of Taylor Lautner -- one of the singer's alleged ex-boyfriends -- smiling happily in the audience.
The first time Taylor performed on the VMAS was back in 2009, when she sang "You Belong with Me" on the streets of New York City, but her performance was overshadowed by her acceptance speech, which was interrupted by Kanye West. The second time, in 2010 she performed "Innocent," a song believed to have been inspired by West.
