The new film adaptation of Les Misérables is a big hit at the box office, but would it have been even bigger with Taylor Swift as one of the stars? The film's producer Cameron Mackintosh confirms to Showbiz411.com Taylor did audition for the role of Eponine. He describes her as a "lovely woman" who is "talented" and "completely un-starry," but that wasn't enough to win Taylor the role over the unknown Samantha Barks.
Cameron says, "Nearly every name you’ve heard in the gossip columns are true, came up for Eponine, and it’s wonderful I think that somebody completely unknown got it.”
As for the added audience Taylor Swift could have brought to the movie, Cameron says, "We didn’t need it. Les Misérables is the star."
Taylor is doing quite well without the Les Miz role though. Her album Red continues its reign atop the Billboard 200 albums chart, and she's launching The Red Tour in March.
