Kellie Pickler has been driving her Dodge Ram truck for a year now, but it's time to give it up for a good cause. She is the first of five artists who participated in last month's Road to the Ram Jam All-Star Country Music Series to put her truck up for auction.
The 1500 Laramie Longhorn truck, which was listed Tuesday in eBay, holds a lot of fond memories for Kellie and her husband, songwriter Kyle Jacobs. Kellie tells ABC News Radio, "We've definitely had that truck parked at the river. We've filled the boxes on the side up with our favorite ice-cold beverages and went fishing, and we've done a lot of road trips and whatnot."
Letting go of the truck is a little easier for Kellie knowing the money raised in the auction goes to the USO Warrior and Family Care program. The organization helps men and women wounded in military service and their families in their recovery efforts.
Says Kellie, It also benefits the fallen angels, their families and helping them get their lives back together the best that they can considering the circumstance. I'm very passionate about the USO and what they stand for and all that they do."
Kellie's truck will be on the auction block for two weeks at Ebay.com/RoadtoRamJam. Brantley Gilbert's truck will go up for auction next on February 5, with proceeds going to the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. Billy Currington, Zac Brown Band and Easton Corbin also have trucks coming up for auction in the coming weeks.
