The Press Enterprise reports three new species of the trapdoor spider, which pounces on its prey from a hidden lair, were recently documented at Joshua Tree National Park in California. One has officially been named A. bonoi in honor of the U2 singer and the band's 1987 album, The Joshua Tree.
In all, nearly three dozen new species of the trapdoor spider have been identified by taxonomist Jason Bond, the director of the Auburn University Museum of Natural History in Alabama.
