On Tuesday, Barry Manilow stood on a New York City street corner with no hat in the freezing cold, as a street sign renaming West 44th Street "Manilow Way" was unveiled in honor of his current run of shows on Broadway. Well, looks like he should have bundled up, because now the singer's sick and has to postpone a bunch of performances.
A statement from the show's reps says, "It turns out the only thing worse than hell and high water is bronchitis." The performances scheduled for Thursday night, as well as those for Friday and Saturday, have now been postponed to the end of the run. That means Manilow's limited Broadway engagement, which was to have wrapped up February 23, has now been extended to March 2.
"Barry is deeply sorry to disappoint his fans and is doing everything he can to ensure a speedy recovery," added the reps. Manilow will resume performances on Tuesday, January 29.
