Don McLean has been fined 400 dollars for speeding in a school zone in Rockport, Maine, last September, according to the Bangor Daily News.
The 67-year-old "American Pie" singer had contested the ticket after police said he was driving his Chrysler at 43 miles per hour at a time when warning lights in the school zone were flashing. When the lights flash, the speed limit is reduced from 45 miles per hour to 15 miles per hour.
McLean had argued that the lights were not flashing when he drove through the zone. The judge handling the case on Thursday reduced the fine from $516 to $400, which McLean promptly paid following his appearance in court.
