Elton John says he was "much less nervous" for the birth of his newborn son, Elijah, than he was when he and partner David Furnish welcomed their first child, Zachary, two years ago.
Elton tells People magazine that as he and David awaited the birth of Elijah, "we tried to create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere."
David chimes in, “I would say we feel more secure in our parenting skills now -- it’s far less scary than the first time ’round!”
Elijah was born via a surrogate -- the same woman the couple relied upon to bring Zachary into the world -- on January 11 in Los Angeles.
David says he and Elton will eventually tell Elijah how he became a part of their family. He says, “We kept a scrapbook for Zachary with all his scans, emails with the surrogate and key moments from the surrogacy, and we are doing the same for Elijah."
The clan will remain in Los Angeles for the next few months before heading back to England.
