PJ Morton's New Album Features His "Biggest Influence" -- Stevie Wonder

PJMortonOnline.comPJ Morton told ABC News Radio back in May that fans could expect his debut album to arrive on shelves in 2013, and now he's delivering on that promise.  His upcoming release New Orleans arrives in stores on May 14, and includes the lead single "Only One," featuring Stevie Wonder playing harmonica.

"Stevie is my biggest influence," New Orleans native PJ tells Billboard of the collaboration.  "Out of anybody, Stevie's really the one that I studied the most growing up in music, so we literally tried everything to get him on the song."

PJ tells Billboard that someone who's worked with Stevie for many years, made the "Only One" collabo happen.  Mr. Wonder recorded his part and sent it to PJ, who tells Billboard that he was thrilled.  "It's really a bucket list dream for me. It's a dream come true," PJ says.

PJ, who is signed to YMCMB, isn't the only one at the label who's worked with Stevie.  YMCMB's Drake featured Stevie's harmonica-playing on his 2011 album Take Care.

In addition to his solo career, PJ is a keyboardist for pop rock band Maroon 5.  He'll open for the group during its world tour this summer.
Here's the New Orleans track list:

1. "New Orleans"
2. "Only One" featuring Stevie Wonder
3. "Never Get Over You" featuring Busta Rhymes
4. "Heavy"
5. "Hard Enough"
6. "Work it Out"
