Rick Ross is apparently not taking any chances in the wake of Monday’s drive-by shooting in Florida. TMZ.com reports Ross has hired a 24-hour armed personal security detail.
The website reports Ross already uses armed bodyguards to watch his back at public appearances and concerts, but now he’s decided he needs a full-time security team.
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department says Ross, whose birth name is William L. Roberts, was inside a 2011 silver Rolls Royce around 5 a.m. Monday when "the occupants heard multiple gunshots being fired in their direction." According to police, “the driver of the Rolls Royce attempted to drive away from the direction of the shots being fired and lost control of the vehicle, striking a nearby apartment building."
Neither Ross nor his female passenger were injured in the shooting. Police have not yet identified a suspect or suspects.
Sources tell TMZ Ross considers the incident an “eye-opener" and is now willing to do anything and everything to keep himself safe.
