We all know that Al Green's "Let's Stay Together," is a favorite of President Obama's, especially since he sang the tune during a fundraiser last year. The President and first lady Michelle Obama danced to the song at the most recent Inauguration, but did you know that when Mrs. O works out, she likes to listen to Willow Smith?
Mrs. Obama tells People magazine that Willow's energetic single "Whip My Hair" always gets her moving. When it comes to relaxing though, the first lady listens to Ledisi's 2011 song "Bravo." She says, "I used to listen to it in the car before campaign rallies because it both calmed me and helped me focus."
When Mrs. Obama is hanging out with her daughters, 11-year-old Sasha and 14-year-old Malia, they listen to Grammy-winner Jill Scott's "Golden." "I used to play it in the car when I drove the girls to school each morning, and we would sing it together," she says.
When Michelle was a youngster, she was a big fan of The Jackson 5. Their albums "were among my first that I bought with my own money," she tells People.
Soon, Mrs. Obama may join Al Green and Jill Scott in the annals of Grammy history: she's nominated for her own trophy this year, in the Best Spoken Word Album category, for her gardening book American Grown. The president, however, already has two Grammys, both in that same category, for his own audiobooks.
