How much would you pay for the chance to hang out with Rod Stewart, both on the ground and in the air? For one wealthy fan, the price tag was more than 50 grand.
Over the weekend, Stewart and his wife, Penny Lancaster, attended the annual Palm Beach Police Foundation's charity ball at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida; the couple has a home nearby. The event features a charity auction, and the website GossipExtra.com reports that Penny took the stage to offer quite a prize: a visit to her and Rod's Beverly Hills estate, and then a ride to Las Vegas with Stewart in his private jet to take in his show at Caesars Palace.
Backstage passes also were included in the lot, which ultimately sold to a mall developer for $55,000.
The top auction prize of the evening, though, was the chance to fly to Scotland in Trump's private plane, and play a round on his new golf course near Aberdeen. That sold for $130,000.
The money raised at the auction, which this year reached $1 million, goes to provide college scholarships for local police officers' kids.
