Floor Board from Church Where Lennon and McCartney First Met Up for Auction

Fox Photos/Getty ImagesAn important moment in music history occurred on July 6, 1957.  That was the day, according to Beatles legend, that John Lennon first met Paul McCartney in the hall of St. Peter’s Church in Liverpool.

Now a section of the wooden floor of the church is being auctioned off on eBay.  The floor board measures about eight inches by two-and-a-half inches by one-inch.

Donna Jackson, who’s involved in the auction, tells the U.K.’s Examiner the floor board is from a church side room that was damaged by fire in 2001.  The damaged floor was removed and several boards have been sold previously by St. Peter’s.  The most recent floor board auctioned off sold for $399.

Bidding on the latest floor board up for sale has already surpassed $799. It comes with a certificate of authenticity, and all proceeds will go to the church.  The auction ends October 23.
