U2 Writes New Song for Upcoming Nelson Mandela Biopic you're excited to hear new music from U2, you'll get your chance if you check out Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, an upcoming biopic about former South African leader Nelson Mandela.  The Irish rockers have announced that they've recorded a new track exclusively for the film, which is expected to hit theaters on November 29.

U2 posted the good news on its website, noting that the song is titled "Ordinary Love."  A snippet of the tune is featured in the current trailer for the flick, and also will be included in the film's soundtrack.

"We are delighted to have U2 write an original song for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom," says the movie's producer, Anant Singh, in a statement.  "This is really fitting as U2 has always been a staunch supporter of Madiba.  As a board member of Madiba's 46664 anti AIDS initiative together with U2, I was fortunate to be with them when we visited Robben Island together, accompanied by Madiba."  Madiba is an affectionate name for Mandela often used to refer to him in South Africa.

More new music from U2 is on the horizon: Bassist Adam Clayton recently revealed in an interview on Irish radio that he and his band mates are currently in the studio working on their follow-up to 2009’s No Line on the Horizon and "hope to have it finished very, very soon."
